Golden Farm Bloodstock Limited was founded in April 2021 on foot of the successful launch of Golden Farm Thoroughbreds. The scope of this company is somewhat broader than GFT with it having greater flexibility for the trading of stock. Investors were invited to join on the basis of an initial five-year term and during the summer of 2021 a total of fourteen investors came aboard, with Paul McKeon being appointed Chairman.

Kevin was invited to commence the spend of capital on three Flat-bred broodmares at the UK and Irish from July 2021. In the initial deployment of capital, Kevin purchased Entrancing and Fragrant Storm at the July Sale in Tattersalls in July 2021 before purchasing Kalaatah at the Goffs Breeding Stock Sale in November 2021. Following an additional round of funding in October 2022, Kevin added Althania to the Golden Farm Bloodstock portfolio.

As with all Golden Farm investment funds, there is a great amount of emphasis placed on achieving the highest standard of corporate governance, transparency, communication and professionalism. With this in mind, Andrew Yates manages all legal and financial aspects of Golden Farm Bloodstock as well as being the main point of contact for investors.

Golden Farm Bloodstock Limited will be open for new investment each year after a stock valuation is carried out and the board agrees the price of shares.

Chairman's Note

In April 2021, Kevin and Andrew approached me about becoming the chairman of Golden Farm Bloodstock Limited and I was more than happy to accept. They had assembled an impressive group of 14 investors including themselves. Sam McCauley and Noel McSweeney are on the board and almost all of the Golden Farm Thoroughbred shareholders, including John Mullins, Ciaran Larkin, Mark Flood and Ivan Yates have invested too.

We had a clear plan to identify and develop Flat-bred broodmares to reach their fullest potential. This included several purchasing strategies including young fillies with breeding potential, proven broodmares and also fillies that were still in training. With the shadow of both Brexit and Covid still hanging over the industry, we felt it was important to deploy our capital by year end if Kevin felt the right mares were available.

Fortunately, at the Tattersalls July Sale, Kevin successful secured Entrancing (a half-sister to European Champion Two-Year-Old Filly Hooray from Cheveley Park) and Fragrant Storm (a Frankel half-sister to Group 1-placed stayer Nayef Road). Then, in November at the Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale, Kevin purchased Kalaatah (a stakes-producing broodmare by Dynaformer from Shadwell). We now have one foal by Twilight Son on the ground and mares in foal to both Mehmas and Starspangledbanner.

Kevin and Andrew deliver the highest standards of investor communication, transparency, corporate governance and financial accountability. If you would like to learn more, please feel free to contact investment@goldenfarm.ie to learn more.
